Main asset

Characteristic tabular shape on aged trees, resin odor in humid or hot weather, very fast growth, edible fruits (pine nuts).

Remarks

The umbrella pine is quite sensitive to strong winds when planted isolated. In this case, a solid guying is essential. It requires hot summers to grow well (South of the Loire).

Large evergreen conifer round-shaped enlarging with age, swiveling rooting then tracing. Its needles are fasciculate by 2, 15-20 cm, dark green. The bark, light gray on young branches, becomes reddish on the trunk, cracked.
