Main asset

Clusters of dark purple bracts persisting for a long time on the plant, contrasting with the white flowers then the black fruits. Easy plant, strong, hardy, drought resistant.

Remarks

Prune the branches at 2/3 of their height in early spring to encourage the growth of new vigorous stems.

A deciduous shrub native to the mountains of China and the Himalayas, the Himalayan Honeysuckle is very original and full of interest. Its growth is vigorous, it forms shrubs of hollow stems erected, a bit like a bamboo. Its lanceolate foliage is dark green, the young leaves and stems are purple. In late summer, it produces clusters of dark purple bracts, then appear small white tubular flowers, soon followed by juicy black fruits, appreciated by pheasants (among others).
