Main asset

Flowering not very sensitive to late frosts, reblooming, white then purple pink (neutral soils) to mauve (acid soils).

Remarks

Compact shrub, suitable for semi-shaded or sunny areas if the soil remains wet in summer.

Close to Hydrangea macrophylla, Hydrangea serrata are native to mountain areas of Japan, so are more hardy. 'Preziosa' has purple stems, contrasting with its rounded inflorescences, composed of single white flowers evolving into pink to purple mauve shades.
