Main asset

Exotic luxuriant appearance, huge flowers the size of a plate, short life (1-2 days) but renewing constantly from late July to September.

Remarks

Prune to the ground in November, and mulch the soil in zone 7 or colder. In this condition, or protected by snow, the plant is very hardy. During the growth, the best results are obtained in fertile soil remaining moist in summer and hot summer temperatures.

Perennial plant native from the South-East of the USA, whose aerial part disappears completely in winter. The start in spring is quite late (early May), but the plant then grows very vigorously up to 1.50 to 2 m depending on the conditions. It produces from the end of July to September huge flowers, about 25 cm Ø, followed by capsules containing the seeds.
