  • Type of products available: 0/1/1P9

Main asset

Deep black foliage unusual in vegetal, allowing quite innovative and modern presentations. In addition to their ornamental qualities, the plants are resistant to powdery mildew and have good drought tolerance.

Remarks

A short pruning in early spring (early April) avoids the risk of late frost on young shoots, and promotes larger clusters of flowers. Flowering, rather late, requires warm temperatures, the best results being obtained in USDA zones 8a and warmer.

The BLACK SOLITAIRE® series is a new group of Lagerstroemia developed by J. Berry Nurseries (Texas), from the EBONY (USDA) varieties, selected for their bright black foliage from spring to autumn, which contrasts with large clusters of frizzy flowers from late July to late August. The plants have an upright habit and a rapid growth.
