Remarks

This variety doesn't need to be staked when young, and requires less pruning. In the garden, prune 2 to 3 times per year minimum, without cutting back in old wood. A regular pruning is necessary to control the vigor of the plant.

Natural intergeneric hybrid between Cupressus macrocarpa and Chamaecyparis nootkatensis (syn. Xanthocyparis nootkatensis), Leyland Cypress was obtained in the 19th century in England. Due to its strong vigor, it quickly became a basic element of hiding hedges, particularly in oceanic climate. The variety EXCALIBUR GOLD 'Drabb' is an improvement of 'Castlewellan Gold', more golden, resistant to the sun and especially much denser and compact.
