Main asset

Bright orange young shoots, fragrant flowering and bright green foliage all year round.

Remarks

PRUNUS azorica are close to P. lusitanica, originating from the Azores Islands (syn. PRUNUS lusitanica subsp. azorica). This variety was obtained by Yves Brénelière at Machecoul (West of France), in 2012.

Sapho

Sturdy shrub, compact, evergreen. The leaves are large, shiny, initially orange then light green. The habit is upright, but the branches keep a certain flexibility and are a little arched, giving a harmonious shape less tight than the varieties of Prunus lusitanica.

In April-May, clusters of white-cream flowers appear, scented. They are followed by small red then black cherries.
